Pray Without Ceasing

Have you ever

asked God what to wear?

thanked God for your friends in the middle of a party?

prayed before registering for classes?

talked to God as you walk through the halls at school?

asked for the words to say during a conversation?

King's daughter, God wants to be a part of every facet of your life! Nothing is too small or trivial. Your loving Heavenly Father desires a close relationship with you that affects every detail of your life....for the immeasurable better. Prayer is an essential part of this relationship.

"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Think about how to you text, Facebook, or tweet little details of your life for everyone to see. What if you "updated" God in the same way, or at least in the same quantity? Tell God His sunset is beautiful, how much you love your dog, or what you are craving to eat - anything and everything! Prayer is not just bedtime or before dinner with the family practice - it is a constant conversation with the King of the Universe, your Abba, Daddy.

When you pray,

1.) God listens. "Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:12-13

2.) God will guide you. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 

3.) God will give you peace. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 

Do you notice anything about these verses? God wants all your heart. He wants you to acknowledge Him in all your ways. He wants you to pray about everything. Bring to Him every question, concern, praise, random thought, and decision - He wants your all! Now look again at the things He promises and be excited that God has never and will never break a promise.

What's the alternative?  "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace" (Romans 8:5-6). Thoughts from the world, the flesh, and the devil lead to anxiety, self-centeredness, pity party, over-analyzing, sensitivity, depression, fear, doubt, anger, confusion, insecurity, and comparison (to name a few)... sounds pretty terrible right? 

Praise God you can have the mind of Christ! King's Daughter, enjoy "praying without ceasing" and invite God to become the center of every detail of your life! He will listen your prayers. He will fill you with peace. He will guide you throughout every step of your life into His perfect plan that will bring you joy and Him glory!
